TODAY IS CARL SAGAN DAY

I repeat- Today is Carl Sagan Day. The first offical one. Not like everyday isn't though. If you know anything about me the one thing to know is that I have an incredible love of everything to do with science. But as with any half half-wit my interest in physics is matched only my my lack of really comprehending it. Anyways Dr. Sagan was an incredible man who changed the way everyday people think about the universe and our place in it.

If youre up for some quality 1970's PBS television, I would really recommend watching Cosmos. If you're up for the read, the book that accompanies the series is tops.

The lads over at Third Man Records decided that THIS was the best way to celebrate Carl's Day. Order one. (I would but I cut up my credit card after this summer's blitz and I can't find the post it where I wrote down the number for just such an emergency.)

Me?Before I head to Sonic Boom's Anniversary Party I'm having a shot for the man with the plan and finding a nice spot in High Park to check out the night sky. And shut up- that's not in the least bit lame.

Rock on Carl.

BCDC AND BURNING LOVE

Last night it was Bastard Child Death Cult's release show for their new album Year Zero. Comebuy a copy from Sonic Boom... or HMV i guess. Anyways the show last night, right. I spent over an hour on the fucking TTC going from Davenport and Dufferin to Dundas and Bathurst. AN HOUR. Which is why i missed the ever mighty Crux of Aux ( which may or may not have been Matt's last show with them.. which would be a damn shame), but hey at least I got there with enough time to see Joel Bath take his shirt off. BCDC have a new guitar player who mostly slays and the new album is pretty wicked.

Shit- I must apologize. I'm working on this epic headache. Groceries should buy themselves by now. I ended up at Derek's ( Grasshopper, 10000 Watt Head) place with Matt (Crux of Aux, Sailboats Are White) and Tara after ordering last call drinks over the phone and almost being suffocated at Sweaty Betty's. Crusher of a night.

Oh and tonight's the staff anniversary party at work. Live young.

Burning Love was ridiculous last night. Chris Colohan is the most brutal singer in Toronto. I mean Cursed?.. C'mon. Hands down. They did a cover of Nick Cave's version of Jack The Ripper that blew my mind... I'm not being sarcastic or whatever, seriously. Awesome guitar solo where the background vocal dudes are up in there.( sorry, i'm editing this post hours after i wrote it and i'm pretty stoned. haha whatever.) It's gonna be the B side of their new single. 100% Yes.

Let's Set Up North On Fire: the SAW love story

Sailboats Are White just got back together after about 2 years, and I hear that Turbo II might be getting an actual release...they played a ton of new shit which was pretty boggling, and great. Way to put the past behind ya, boys.

Check out the BlogTO review by clicking THIS word. Make sure to read the comment where some dude tells me what to write in my reviews. I didn't like the headlining band and my mother taught me early on that if i don't have anything goddamn nice to say not to say anything at all.

Personal highlight of this show: Aminda and I telling Matt that he's cute. awesome roommate team, and i can't wait for another winter of firelogs and pizza specials and C horror movie parties.
Drink of the night: Shirley Temples ( Kevin D)

PS: someone buy me a new record player ( hi mom)
