FRIENDS ON THE SPIT+ANAGRAM+PIERCED ARROWS+PEACH KELLI POP+NATURAL CHILD

Here's what I've been up to the past couple weeks. Apart from working at the Treating Yourself expo last weekend.
← yup.

Starting the month of my birth of right, a bunch of friends and I biked out to the lighthouse on the Leslie Spit with the loose goal of watching the 6 planets align in the pre-dawn sky. While we did see the grand cosmic dance, we did not utilize the rather large telescope that Nigel biked across town with. Watching the sun rise over Lake Ontario in the cool summers morn was like a scene from a Sofia Coppola film.

The Garage (73 Cecil) is set to be one of the best pop up venues in the city. I'd love to see Quest For Fire, Dentata, One Hundred Dollars or like Career Suicide there. Here's Anagram/Tonka&Puma/False Face ripping the place on June 3rd.

Peach Kelli Pop are a bunch of darling pop crooners from Ottawa whom I adore a whole lot. I love the new lineup too! From the show with the incroyable Sphinxs at The Shop on June 5th.

Now, Natural Child ( from Nashville) ARE awesome, and they were one of my top 10's from SXSW this year, but this was a weird show. They were definitely good, but it didn't have the same pull as back in Austin. I really really like them though, that song that goes something like " Let me hit that cop/ let me smoke that rock" and the other one about not wanting to fuck someone, but doing it anyways? Pure Diamond Gold.

And last night the best musical example of a successful marriage happened at the Silver Dollar. PIERCED ARROWS ( ex Dead Moon) my friends. Pierced Arrows. Pierced damned Arrows. In an insanely fitting move, Lullabye Arkestra and Ell V Gore opened the show up. The Ark did a North American tour with P.A last summer. It's like gazing into the mirrors of time, comparing Kat and Justin with Toody and Fred.

4 THUMBS UP 4 THE 4 CORNERS SHOW

The 2nd time around this party was just as much fun; just as crazy. Sun Ra Ra's 13th Floor Elevators cover was awesome. And as a giant fan of Spaceman 3, I was totally into the 4 band Space Jam that ensued at the end of the show. (The cover was Losin' Touch With My Mind, by the way, from the album " Taking Drugs to Make Music to Take Drugs To). If anyone has a recording of that, I want it please and thanks! EDIT: Many many thank ye's go out to Joe over at Mechanical Forrest Sound for the recording!
