Wanda Jackson Feat. The Third Man Band w/ Dex Romweber Duo

The Queen of Rockabilly and the Herauder of the Septuagenarianals ( Jack White), shot at the Williamsburg Hall of Music in Brooklyn on Jan/21/2011, which also happened to be my father's 51st birthday; Happy Day, Dad.

The Dex Romweber Duo ARE THE BEST, SIMPLY. Not only is Dex a madman ( See also The Flat Duo Jets), but his sister Sara could absolutely obliterate her drum kit. As the almighty Ben Swank righteously screamed from the balcony as they stepped on stage, " BEST DRUMMER IN THE WORLD!". And as Ben himself is one of the better drummers out there ( see Henry & June, Soledad Brothers), you can take it as the truth. I implore you- check them out.

Wanda's a spry one for sure! Not content with merely bouncing across the stage and riling up the crowd, she also got a few grade A zingers in on Jack. " I thought the boy had lost his mind when he insisted I record this next song..." ( Amy Winehouse's " You're No Good For Me ). It sounds pretty damn incredible coming from a 73 year old. Without a doubt my favorite WJ tune was "Fujiyama Mama", closely followed by "Rip it Up" off the new album we all have heard so much about- The Party Ain't Over out on Third Man Records.

The Dead Weather (was worth making the Sound Academy a part of my reality)

BlogTO review here.
I wanna give a big thank you to all those involved with Live Nation and the band themselves for making it possible for me to see the show and take some photos. Also thanking the good ol' TJ G. for being a sport and biking all the way to the show ( and part of the way home!).

What can I say about the Dead Weather that you don't already know? Very little I'm sure, just look at the photos. They're an incredible band, and every time I see them it blows my mind. Also, Jack's boots kind of made my night.

Really pissed off I missed the boat on media access to take photos of Lullabye Arkestra. Strict shows aren't the best time to be 3 minutes late.
